They were in with a load of opt-outs……

As the idiocy of #brexit unfolds, it seems that the Prime Minister of Luxembourg can articulate the in one sentence, what our entire parliament is unable to.

‘Before they were in with a lot of opt-outs, now they are out and want a lot of opt-ins’

Xavier Bettel

Why the British public believe they are entitled to the benefits they had, but now for free I’ll never understand. It is as if the UK has had any collective rationale surgically removed overnight.

It’s been a truly astonishing couple of years, and I fear this is the Hors d’oeuvre to the chaos that will be served as the main course.

My first trip to Canada and Toronto was a great introduction. An incredibly lively and active city, with something happening on every corner.

Arriving late on a Saturday and staying just around the corner from Yonge-Dundas Square a heavy metal concert was in full flow. Sunday made way for street food and Mexican bands.

Monday morning saw Tony Hawks roll up with a huge half-pipe. SpadinaKensington Market and Graffiti Alley are definitely areas worth visiting if you have time to wander.

According to my flight stats for 2016 I flew in/out of Amsterdam Schipho 61 times during 2016 and never once left the airport.

So it made perfect sense to actually visit Amsterdam with my wife for an extended weekend and actually progress further than the KLM Crown lounge.

Copenhagen (July 2016)

My second visit to Copenhagen, a lot warmer this time than my April visit. Based mainly around the Norreport station area and the excellent Torvehallerne market

A glorious week in May 2016 spent at the University of Minnesota, in Duluth.

Staying across the river in Superior in Wisconsin meant stating each day with a stunning drive over the Blatnik Bridge. Then up into the hills to the UMD campus.

If you aren’t put off driving into deserted industrial estates late at night, then you’ll find some great ribs & bbq at Izzys BBQ & Lounge
