Thought of this after reading an article about the Star & Garter just the other day.

Whilst I’ve never been, I was aware of it’s influence in the Bristol and the wider area.

In particular the amazing story of Derek Serpell-Morris (aka DJ Derek) a one time accountant, who became a giant in the reggae world and told so well in the video below.

Brandon Street Night Market

Brandon Street Night Market

I was particularly interested to visit the Brandon Street Night Market at Canal Mills because my family used to own the land when it was previously a furniture wholesaler.

The last time I had been in this particular building it was actually a furniture showroom for contract furnishings.

Times change and now the business is closed and the land is being put to good use as club and events space.

Based just outside Leeds city centre, it position on an industrial estate next to the Leeds and Liverpool canal should mean no complaints from the neighbours.
